My company has created a list of favorite symbols. Now I am wondering how I can xport them as PNG or SVG files

Hi @somayen,

Thank you for your response and for that context! Managing 300+ symbols across categories like pumps and valves is a significant task! Could you clarify a few things so I can take a closer look?

  • Would you mind sending a screenshot of a few of these shapes and how they are organized in your panel?

  • Are you looking to export the visual shape itself, or the data/attributes attached to them?

  • Which PFD editor are you planning to move these into?

Here is one potential workaround I wanted to recommend (see screenshots below).

First, put all of your shapes on one page (if you haven’t already), and organize them how you would like.

Next, Click the three horizontal line (hamburger menu).

Then Click “Export”

Click “SVG” for the file format

In the Crop dropdown menu, select “Crop to Content”

This will create an SVG file with one big list of all your shapes, and will remove any whitespace around the contents of your document, ensuring the file is trimmed tightly to the shapes rather than the full canvas size.

Hi @somayen,

Thank you for posting in the Lucid Community!

Here are the steps to exporting your favorite symbols/shapes:

  1. Select the shape(s)/symbol(s) you would like to export
  2. Right click on the entire selection. *Quick tip: Make sure you're right-clicking on the actual shape itself; right-clicking the empty workspace won't show the correct export settings.
  3. Click “Export Selection”
  4. Choose file format (PNG, SVG, etc.)
  5. Export will occur

I have included a couple gifs below to show you what these steps above ^ look like:

To export one shape/symbol at a time

To export multiple shapes/symbols at once

Please let me know if you have any additional questions!

Thank you for your response!

In my shapes I have more than 300 which is sorted based on categories (pump, valve, etc.)

I was hoping for a way to export them in my PFD editor as a whole list.

Hi @somayen,

Thank you for your response! I would love to stay updated on how this is working for you and am happy to continue providing any resources that would be helpful!

Are the “KDc” shapes you included in your screenshot a part of your own custom shape library? I don’t see them in our Lucid library, and wanted to confirm that they are part of one of your custom shape libraries. Here is a help center article on how to export a custom shape library that could be helpful moving forward. Here are the steps to exporting a custom shape library:

  1. Click More shapes at the bottom of the Shape menu.
  2. Expand the “My libraries” dropdown in the left-side panel.
  3. Select the custom library you want to export.
  4. Click three_dot_icon_in_custom_shape_library.png the three-dot icon in the upper-right corner.
  5. Select Export.

Please let me know if you have additional questions, and thank you for your engagement in the Lucid Community!
