Facilitator access for external users on Lucidspark board

We are trying to run community events using a Lucid Board, and would like to be able to grant select community members with facilitation access so that they can run votes and timers. These are not users in our Lucid account.

There doesn’t seem to be a way to add external users as facilitators with their email addresses.

Can a named external user on a free/lower-tier Lucid account actually claim facilitator on our board? Lucid's docs say a collaborator on a lower account type may not be able to edit even when granted, and facilitator tools are Team/Enterprise-only.

If so, does that consume one of our seats?

Hi @colton.manweiler

Lucid supports Guest Collaborators on Lucidspark boards for eligible Team and Enterprise accounts, allowing external participants to join without being members of your Lucid account. Guest Collaborators can participate in voting, but they cannot facilitate voting sessions; they can view the Timer but cannot control it.

If an external person needs to run voting sessions or timers, they would need the appropriate Team/Enterprise user access in your Lucid account. Adding them as a regular Team member requires a license/seat

Hi @colton.manweiler,
Thanks so much for posting in the Lucid Community — and a big thank you to Humas for the thorough, accurate answer above! @Humas1985 hit the nail on the head here! I just wanted to quickly recap the main takeaways:

  • Facilitator Controls: Running timers and managing voting sessions require a paid Team or Enterprise license. Free users and Guest Collaborators can participate in these activities, but they cannot start or manage them.

  • Licensing & Guests: Generating a Guest Collaborator link for external users is free and does not consume any of your account’s paid licenses.

The easiest workaround: Have one licensed member of your team host the board and control the timer/voting sessions, while your external facilitators join via a Guest Collaborator link. This allows external guests to participate freely without requiring you to purchase additional licenses for them.

Let us know if you have any additional questions!
