There’s an option on the View / Guides menu to “Show Guides”. What are guides and how are they used? I’ve searched through the LucidChart documentation and I’ve searched the forums but nothing comes up.
Hi
Thanks for posting in the Lucid Community!
Guides are lines you can use as a reference point to help align objects. To learn more about guides, check out our Adjust document and board settings article in the Help Center! Scroll to the section named “Guide settings”.
Let me know if you have any additional questions!
Hi
You might want to let the documentation team know that the Help files are confusing on this point. If I just search Help for Guides all I get are links to guides for how to do different things—not the “guides” feature in LucidChart.
When I click on Help / Feature Find and enter Guide, it pops up a menu that clearly shows how to turn Show Guides on and off, but only somewhat hidden behind the bright blue dancing arrow is a link to Settings / Document Settings. And when I go there there’s no reference to Guides. At the bottom is the switch for showing Rulers, but no indication that Rulers have to be displayed in order to create Guides.
If I click on Help / Feature Find and enter Guide, then click on “Search Guide in the Help Center” it takes me to a page that says it can’t find anything.
Since Guides and Grid appear on the View menu, it would make sense to put Rulers there as well. I find that the way the current documentation is set up is confusing and non-intuitive.
Thanks again for you help. I hope these comments are helpful!
