Dear community,

I would like to import data from Google Sheets and it seems the enterprise plan would be required to import data to any shape in Lucid. Thus, I was testing the “smart container” and org chart features, but it seems like the possible structures with these document types are very limited and just copy-pasting still puts the shapes on the existing structures rather than having them as “independent shapes” that can be freely moved around. Is there any other possible workaround for being able to do that?

Many thanks!

Hi @luciduser_1234, happy to clarify! Both smart containers and org charts are shapes designed for specific purposes/use cases, which also means that they can’t be transformed into more flexible/”independent” shapes. Advanced Data Linking is indeed only available on the Enterprise plan, and this is the only way to import data and manually link it to shapes in your Lucidchart document.

For more information on the data import capabilities of the different subscription plans, please take a look at this section of the Lucidchart Plans article.

Thanks @Eric R! For the more “flexible shapes”, is there the possibility to manually add data to shapes and use conditional formatting with the custom data?

Yes indeed, great call! You can manually add custom data to shapes via the contextual panel on the right, after selecting a shape:
