Folks, The “Submit” button is not showing on my Lucidchart that I’m trying to move into a Canvas Assignment. I followed all of the directions here.

Hi @Kaptainl

Is the highlighted button completely unavailable?

Can you confirm the assignment settings in Canvas to verify that the submission type is correctly set to 'External Tool' and that Lucidchart is properly integrated as the designated tool.

Hope this helps - Happy to help further!!
Thank you very much and have a great one!
Warm regards

Hi @Kaptainl, thanks for posting in the Lucid Community! @Humas1985, those are great things to check, thank you for providing those steps! One other thing to note, we’ve seen that some users are running into this issue if this assignment has existed for some time, as our Canvas integration was recently updated. If the assignment is configured correctly, I would recommend creating a new assignment and following the same steps you used to create that assignment, as this should allow things to work as expected. Please let me know if you have any further questions!

Thanks @Amelia W and @Humas1985 but I’m still just getting this:

I’m following every instruction on the video. Grrrr…...

Hi @Kaptainl, thanks for following up! I apologize for the continued trouble here. One thing I failed to mention earlier, is that as a Teacher, you do not have the ability to submit an assignment, so that screen will be seen by your students. Based on the prompt you are receiving, it looks like you have set it up correctly! Your students should see the document you’ve attached and have the ability to submit it. I would recommend having a student attempt to open your assignment to confirm that they can see the Submit Assignment as expected. Please let me know if the issue persists!

I’m getting the same error. I’m viewing the assignment in Canvas as a TEST STUDENT so I should be able to see the submit button. I see the submit button in TEST STUDENT view for other assignments in Canvas…

These are my assignment settings:

Hi @MathwithLinda, thanks for adding to this thread! Can you share a screenshot of what you are seeing when logged into your Test Student account and you attempt to submit the assignment? Additionally, if you remove the Lucid document from the assignment, are you still unable to see the submit button or does it become available to you? I appreciate your help and patience!

I still have not been able to do what I want to do with my 35 students, and using Lucidchart in Canvas:

  1. Provide them with a template that they can add to, edit, and use as an individual assignment (not collaborative).

  2. I don't want everyone to edit the same doc. I want them to do their own Lucid chart, and post it in discussions for everyone to see.

  3. Ideally, I'd like to pair students up to edit the Lucid docs they created, and interact with each other.

I've tried twice to launch Lucid and have them create a content map from a template that I provide. It always opens for everyone.

Thanks!!!

Hi @Kaptainl, thanks for following up! I apologize for the continued trouble. Can you confirm that you have followed the Create an assignment steps as outlined in our Help Center Article? This process makes a unique copy of a new or existing Lucid document for each student as you described.

If you would like a pair of students to work on their individual documents, they can share their new documents with each other to collaborate.

I’m getting the same message as Kaptainl but I think I figured it out. Because my Lucid account was attached to my canvas account, even though I was viewing Canvas in student mode, I was still being connected to Lucid with my teacher Lucid account. I had my admin make a separate student account in Canvas with a separate email. Only then would Lucid show me the student view. My take-away is that you are NOT able to (at least easily) see the student view of Lucid in Canvas, only the teacher view. Moving forward I am just going to hope that students are seeing the submit button in Canvas for Lucid assignments.

Hi @MathwithLinda, thanks for your response! To confirm, switching to the Student View in Canvas does not switch your Lucid account from teacher to student, so the submit button would still be unavailable to you as you described. However, it is worth noting that aside from teachers not being able to submit assignments, the functionality between Student and Teacher Lucid accounts are very similar. Our development teams are continuing to improve this integration and I have passed your feedback on to them. Please let me know if there’s anything else I can do for you!
