Hi there - I'm struggling with how to best share my Org Chart with people in my organization.

When I embed the Org Chart in a SharePoint page (using the LucidChart web app) it defaults to 50% zoom and creates a screen within a screen experience where the user needs to scroll around and look for a way to zoom in. I also don't like that users have to click twice to get through to an external link. I do like that users can expand Notes on the Org Chart to see descriptions of different things.

I like how the PDF export of our Org Chart looks better and I think it would be easier for users to navigate (if we simply upload the PDF file to our SharePoint) however we lose the Notes functionality in the PDF. I'm struggling to figure out a way to add Notes or mouse-over to the different elements in the PDF in a way that looks professional (I don't love the sticky notes or comments options).

Any ideas for workarounds for either the SharePoint embed or the PDF export to enhance the user experience? External links and some sort of Notes/mouse over functionality are a must.

Hi there thanks for posting in the Lucid community! I'm happy to help.

Unfortunately what you are trying to do is not currently supported for embedding - it will always default to a zoom level that shows the whole diagram. However I certainly understand how setting the default zoom level would be useful and we're always looking for ways to improve Lucidchart; your feedback is the best way for us to do that. I've logged this for review by our development team which utilizes feedback like this when prioritizing improvements. If you have additional use case details or more information about what you'd like to see please add them in this thread or to our feature request form Thanks for your request!

As a workaround I believe publishing your document as a full URL might work as a solution.

While it wouldn't embed directly in your Sharepoint site and you would need to provide the URL to your viewers it does provide a view-only experience similar to that of embedding or publishing as a PDF while retaining the ability to use Notes. I've included a GIF below to demonstrate the experience.

I hope this helps! Apologies for any inconvenience; please let me know if you have additional questions.

Hi there - Thanks for explaining the option to publish as a full URL. To confirm if we used that option anyone with the link (e.g. people from outside our organization) could access our chart in LucidChart unless we chose to password protect it - Is this right? I think this is going to be a limiting factor for us and will probably mean that we publish the chart to PDF (without Notes) and then share in our intranet.

Appreciate your help!

Hi @leicht, a that's correct - if you publish your document as a URL it will be publicly accessible unless you add password protection. I'm sorry that solution won't be the best fit! Please let me know if there's anything else we can do to support your work.
