Private Mode still showing what people are typing. How do I troubleshoot this?
Good morning
If the people typing haven’t joined the private mode session, then people will be able to see what they are typing, even if there is an active private mode session going on. Some people can be in the session while others are not.To troubleshoot, they need to make sure all collaborators have joined the private session. It’s also important to know that private mode is only for stickies, so if they are adding text somewhere else, like in the text box shape, or on a regular shape or frame title etc. text entry will not be hidden.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
Thank you, Shantel. They were providing their feedback using the sticky notes. So I have a feeling those who we could see what they were typing during private mode hadn’t joined the PM session.
Is there like a visual notification to tell them they are on PM and that they need to join? Like… is there a “Join” button that appears on their screen?
Thanks in advance.
Good afternoon
I tested this and while I had a private session running, my colleague opened the board and got this popup message.
And each user will have the option to “leave” the private mode session where they will get this warning before leaving.
And lastly as you can see in my screenshot, the person who started the session will have the “end for all” button.
Yes… but you have the option as the only one with the power to end the session which I choose all the time. So I wish there was a Join button for them to confirm.
They will be automatically “joined” to the session when they open the board and start adding sticky notes. If they elected to leave the session, then they would be able to see what was being added on new sticky notes.
Please let me know if I am misunderstanding here. Did that user leave the private mode session by clicking “leave”? Maybe I can better assist if you can give me more details about what specific steps the user took that caused them to get into a state where they were able to see the sticky note content during a private mode session.
