I'm having trouble with page settings. Even if I use a large canvas when I export (to PNG or via Google Sheets connector) the exported image is size is quite small so when I expand it the resolution is lossy. What is the best way to increase the size for export? (This is a chart going into a 16:9 google slide for web viewing.)
Hi Patrick thanks for your post! If your diagram is very large and detailed it's likely that this is causing the poor resolution you're seeing when exporting to PNG. There are a few things you could try if this is the case.
Exporting to PDF may help as this format results in less compression of the image. If you're not already using this I also recommend selecting 'Crop to Content' in your export settings to eliminate any white space in the exported file. If this doesn't help you could also try exporting your document in smaller sections to achieve a higher resolution result. To do this select the 'Crop' option in your export settings. For detailed instructions on customising your export/download settings please see this Export Your Lucidchart Documents article from our Help Centre.
If you need any assistance with this we would be happy to help! Please submit a Support ticket using this form. Make sure to include the URL of your document a description or screenshot of the download settings you selected and the PNG file you downloaded.
I think many of us out here who enjoy using Lucidchart require a higher resolution file export. Often flowcharts are inserted into other documents and the image quality is not acceptable for this. While exporting a flowchart to pdf provides a higher quality image a pdf is not an image file that can be inserted in another document. I hope that this is something that your developers are working on.
Hi Sharon thanks for continuing this thread and for taking the time to share your feedback. I certainly can understand this frustration and how high quality images are essential to your work. If you would like to share any additional use case context or details about what you'd like to see in this experience we'd love to hear more in this thread.
