match size

I click on one shape to select it.  I ctrl-click on another shape now they're both selected and there's a bounding box.  I right-click on one of them and select 'match size / width'.  The result is that the first shape is aligned to the top of the bounding box and the second to the bottom of the bounding box.

Not what I want :)

I don't completely understand the issue you are describing. When using the "Match Size" feature on my end the shape sizes match as expected:

Could you send screenshots of the issue you are experiencing so I can see what you're seeing? Thanks!

Thanks for recording that video and apologies for the delayed response! 

The match size feature will match the sizes of shapes but the shapes will remain in the same positions. If you wish to align the shapes you can do this by selecting them and then selecting "Align" in the context menu (right-click):
