i wondered if it is possible to create a custom shape out of multiple single shapes link data from a sheet row to the group and assign the fielddata to different shapes within the group.
I couldn't find a way to do that. I can link the data to the group but can't access it with shapes within the group.

That is great question! From a data-linking perspective the custom shape is seen as individual objects and this means that the corresponding cells in your data sheet do need to be individually populated.
