Is it actually impossible to select objects on top of or near other objects?

I am trying to get started with lucidchart because it seems like a great tool and after an hour I have given up.

I have been trying to get this working for so long that I made a screen recording since that comment thread suggests that support doesn't experience the same problem: https://youtu.be/1z4U68z14nk

To be clear the screen recording changes the way that selecting objects breaks when screen recording is active I can move around the most recently selected item but nothing else. When screen recording is _not_ active I can only move around some huge object and not the items I'm trying to select. In the video normally I can move around both of the accounts boxes but not any of the individual items (e.g. ec2/vpn gateway).

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for posting in the community and for the information you sent!

First try toggling off the lock for your shapes. Certain types of Locking make the user unable to move shapes. To remove the Lock simply select the shape right click select Lock/Unlock and then toggle the Lock off. Then you should be able to move your shapes. You can learn more about this by taking a look at our Help Center Shapes article.

Next another thing that may be changing the way your move your shapes is Grouping. You group sets of shapes my selecting them right clicking and selecting Group. This will cause the shapes to move as an object and not as individual items. To remove this right click on the object and select Ungroup.
