Hi @Jshood,
Thank you for the post! You can import data into a document by following these steps:
- Click the Data Panel icon in the left bar.
- Click Link Data.
- In the window that appears, click Import Your Data.
- Select the file type (Google Sheets, Excel, or CSV) that you would like to import, or select to choose a file that you have already uploaded to Lucidchart.
- Select a file
Once you have uploaded data in the Data Panel you can assign it to an object by following the steps in this Help Center article. Please let me know if you have any other questions!
An excellent question Jshood. This is excactly what I am trying to do.
I am not sure the response is complete though. Linking excel data seems simple. But being able to perform functionality like you can with the org chart tool is not so simple. I am not sure it is possible and I find the help center article very generic and high level.
I want to define a template card (apply some basic formatting to make it look presentable) and then have this card used to display all the rows from my xls. Then I want to be able to dynamically group the data based on values of the data.
Is this possible. Do you have examples of the results?
Thanks
Hi @AndrewL,
Thank you for the reply! Are you wanting to link all your data to the same card? Would you be interested in something like smart containers to group your imported data?
Hi Kelsey, thanks for the quick response.
i have an xls of business processes. One on each row. Say 30 rows.
i would like to link to lucid and have 30 cards. Then be able to group, filter etc to show subsets of cards during workshops.
Does this make sense?
Hi @AndrewL,
Yes that makes sense. I think what might help you achieve this is cards in Lucidspark. You can import your data into cards from a CSV file, and then you can using the tag feature to sort these cards.
