Id like my org chart to be laid out vertically in efforts to save space, however when i drag the boxes below the manager, i end up with a striaght line. How can i add a curved line to show that all 4 bottom boxes report to the top manager?

Hi @lugano.minga

When manually drawing connections in Lucidchart, you can set curved lines as the default style for your document, ensuring consistency and saving time on minor manual adjustments.

  • However, this approach doesn't affect Lucidchart's auto-generated connectors, which often default to straight or orthogonal styles in standard org chart layouts and may reset when the document auto-adjusts.
  • To achieve a visual ‘fan’ effect in vertical layouts, you'll likely still need to use workarounds like the ‘joiner’ shape or manual curved connectors.
  • To apply default curved lines for manual connectors, simply deselect everything, use the Edit Line Type icon to set to "Curved", and then draw new connectors.

Also, you can create a joiner flow for vertical direct reports by placing a small shape beneath the manager, connecting it with a straight line, and then drawing curved connectors to each report, resulting in a neat, fan-like layout.
