While editing my process map I must have accidentally deleted an entire layer. I've tried to undo but the undo button does nothing. Tried Revision History but it wants to charge my £30 a month (I'm on the £8 a month solo plan) and even if I signed up it's unclear if it will have previous revisions. I've lost a lot of work here and I'm really not happy that I have to upgrade to compensate for an undo button not working and don't know if it will even work.

Lucid Chart your app is great but this is a real let down!

Neil

And now that I've gone back from the account upgrade to the file the undo button is completely greyed out!

OK. Managed to fix this by upgrading to team. Using the revision history to go back a version. Restoring that then. Downgrading again. Not sure what it cost me but hopefully not too much. Just wish the undo button worked or revsion history wasn't a team only feature.

Hey Neil thanks for posting in the community! We're glad that you were able to restore to a previous version of your document but we want to ensure you're having a great experience using Lucidchart. Apologies for the difficulty using the undo button! While we're currently not able to reproduce any issues with it I suspect that you  might not have been able to undo because the layer deletion occurred in a different editing session that when you discovered it. We would be happy to look into this further and definitely want to know if you experience any additional trouble.

Thanks for the response. It was definitely the same session. When you clicked Undo it simply said saving then nothing changed repeated clicks did the same. You need the ability to do multiple undos at the same time from a menu like Excel does. But really you need to make revision history a feature of the individual package. It's unclear to me why this would only be for teams? As those editing their own docs independently like me would really use the feature.

Thank you for clarifying and I'm sorry that the undo feature didn't work as it should have for you. If you experience something like this again please reach out to our product support team here so that we can dive in on the specific document and take a closer look.

Thank you for the thoughtful feedback about revision history. If you'd like to share your thoughts on this with our product development team please add them to this form.

This is CLEARLY Not taken seriously!! I have EXACTLY same issue today, three years after this instance was well documented. Exactly same thing happened. It happened because I was trying to use layers and layers were moving entire org chart from layer to layer,  I was not able to move sections of the org chart into separate layers so i decided to just get rid of the layers and lost the entire chart without ability to undo!!! This is horrible experiance made lot worse knowing that this glitch was clear to the company three years ago!!!

Ok, I have upgraded to teams. The version history function appears. I am restoring to version from Friday that clearly existed! I have just deleted the layer, I have only created layers half hour or so ago. And subsequently deleted the layer. So Friday the 20th should have everything!! I have restored that version, restored it into a new file and NOTHING!! The org chart is NOT there. Can someone help!! This starting not to be funny!!

Hi @Eternalspring, thank you for continuing this post and I’m sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with the ‘undo’ button. To confirm, you tried to restore your document to a later version but the missing content was not appearing there, is this correct?

Would you mind sharing a brief description about how your org chart and layers were created? Did you select sections of your org chart and moved it to another layer by right-clicking and selecting ‘move to’? This information will help us better understand the issue you’re experiencing.

Can you please also share a temporary Support PIN for this document? This will allow me to take a closer look at the issue you’re experiencing. For more information on generating a Support PIN, check out this Help Center article. This Support PIN doesn’t allow anyone but Lucid Support to take a look at your document, so you are safe to post it here.

Thank you for your help and please let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks for the question. I have created the chart data and employee ID to supervisor relationship with Excel and used the import data functionality to bring the initial draft into lucidchart. This almost certinluy used the lucidchart build in chart tool which must have automatically created the parent child relationships somehow linking the data into one object. The issue I was having I was not able to break the chart into layers to analyze separate departments which I planned to put in different layers. No matter which object I selected and moved to a different layer, the entire chart moved into the new layer as if it was one object. Consequently I abandoned this path and deleted the layers. This is when the chart disappeared and the undo did not work to undo that delete action. I have upgraded to access the version history, and unfortunately all versions created and saved before I even started to experiment with layers, all the historical record was empty as well.  Here is my temporary support PIN: dunIb3LS1v4GlZ210220354. Thank for any help you can offer.

Hi @Eternalspring, thank you for sharing more information about the issue the document PIN. I am going to move our conversation to a private support ticket so that we can take a closer look at the issue. Please keep an eye out for an email from Lucid Support. Thanks!
