Editing Lucid charts in the cloud version of Confluence
We have the Lucidchart Connector installed for Confluence, and we’re able to add documents. However, it doesn’t seem to be allowing users to make edits within the Confluence page and only provides an icon which then opens Lucid in a new tab.
Just wondering if this is because we are using the cloud version of Confluence and not the server version, or if there’s something else happening.

Hi @KatieSW, thanks for posting in the Lucid Community! You can integrate Lucid with Confluence Cloud, so that should not be causing this issue. Can you confirm that you have the Rich Viewer enabled, rather than the Simple Viewer? The simple viewer provides a static PNG of the diagram, while the rich viewer provides full interactivity with Lucid. Also, you must have edit access the Confluence page with inserted Lucid documents.
@Amelia W Thank you for responding. Unfortunately, I’m not seeing anywhere to change from a Simple Viewer to a Rich Viewer. Whether that be in the Apps configuration or from within the Confluence page editing. I’m a global admin, so permissions should not be an issue in this instance. Below are several screenshots of what I am seeing both in edit mode for the page and the App settings.
View after updating page. The only option for editing is done by clicking on the Lucid icon on the top left of the document which takes you to the Lucid website.
These are the options when clicking on the ‘gear’ icon.
This is what is visible in editing mode for the page. Clicking on the blue “Lucidchart Diagrams” does nothing.
These are the options available for the add-on in the Apps section of Confluence.
This is the only thing available after selecting “Configure” for the app
Hopefully, this additional information will help determine what the issue may be, or if we just need to be going to Lucid to edit documents in our instance of Confluence. If you have any other questions please let me know.
Thank you,
Katie
Thank you for sharing all of those details @KatieSW! Based on your screenshots, it looks like you have the Rich viewer enabled and the connection between the integration was made correctly, as you can interact with the document view and links. The ability to switch your viewer type by selecting the pencil icon that appears at the bottom of the viewer. I apologize for the oversight on my part, as you are correct, users will need to click the Lucidchart icon and navigate to Lucid to make edits to their documents.
Please note, if users have View access to a Confluence page, they will only be granted View access to a Lucidchart document(s) linked to that page. Let me know if you have any further questions!
Great, thank you for the confirmation and appreciate the assistance!
@KatieSW, of course! Glad I could help!
