The description of the Share --> Publish feature reads "Generate a continuously updated link to share with others". The word "continuously updated" gives the impression that the link shows a live view of the document. In other words if I update the document at anytime after generating the link then those changes will be visible immediately in the published link. However this does not appear to be the case: the link appears to capture the document at the time it was generated and any updates afterward are not reflected.

Can someone please clarify how this is supposed to work.

Hi Rostom - Thanks for reaching out! Publishing a link will enable the feature that allows others to see your updates to the document continuously. If this feature isn't working can you please submit a ticket including the URL of the document using our Contact Form so we can take a closer look at the issue? Thanks for using Lucidchart!

Hi I have the same problem. Is this solved already?

Hi there

Thanks for continuing this thread and I'm sorry to hear you are also having trouble with getting your published document updated. The issue Rostom reported was document-specific meaning that this feature should be working for other users.

Please note that when generating a continuously updated link you can choose to publish your document as an URL PDF or an image. The published document will only update real time if it was generated from an URL. When publishing your document using the other options (PDF/Image) the publishing link will allow users to download an updated version of the document as PDF/image; however once the PDF/image have been downloaded the generated PDF/image files will not update real time. In order for users to get an updated PDF/image of the document they will need to click on the publishing link again to download an up-to-date version of it. This means that the link is continually updated but the files downloaded using that link are just a snapshot of the state of the published document at the time of the download.

If that does not cover what you are experiencing it is possible that you are running into a document-specific issue. In this case could you please submit a support ticket by filling out this form? This will allow us to provide with you one-on-one troubleshooting and take a look at your document while protecting your data privacy.
