First time user. I am trying to create a duplicate diagram to work on it on a different page. When I go - File - Duplicate - and go to the new page it gives me a link instead

Thank you for posting in the Lucid Community! When you navigate to File > Duplicate you will see a popup that prompts you to name the duplicate of your document. Once you click "Ok" the duplicate of the document will automatically open and you will now be editing the copy.
Alternatively you could copy (Ctrl + C) the diagram and paste it (Ctrl + V) on another page tab using the page tabs on the bottom left of the screen.
