Hello,

I noticed today that I am unable to copy paste from lucid chart to microsoft word or ppt.

Hi Nirmala,

To clarify, are you able to confirm that you have been able to copy from Lucid and paste into MS Word/PowerPoint in the past?  I have tested this myself now, and I have been able to successfully past a Lucid diagram in to PowerPoint, so I am checking if there may be something different with your environment?

FYI (if you are in a hurry) - my favourite back-up to directly copying and pasting, is to export my diagram as a PNG image, and then insert the image into my MS document

Hello Craig,

I use lucidchart regularly. I have also copy pasted directly from lucidchart to my ppt presentations and publications written in word.

I was trying to do the same yesterday, but I got a blank box. I tried in both Microsoft ppt and word. My department regularly updates all my software in my laptop. But I don’t think that should affect. I tried again this morning. it is copying a blank box

Hi @Nirmala S, thank you for posting your question in the Lucid Community! Unfortunately, this functionality is not formally supported by Lucid, so copy/pasting into Word or PowerPoint is not guaranteed to consistently result in the best experience.

I would suggest utilizing the integrations we do have available. Do you have the integrations set up in your account? I would recommend setting up the Microsoft integrations shown in the Integrations Marketplace. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about setting everything up.

If you would like to see the copy/paste into Powerpoint feature officially implemented and supported by Lucid, please feel free to leave your product feedback within the thread below. Upvoting the post below and leaving your feedback there is the best way to indicate your support for this feature to be implemented.

Though I can understand that this is not the experience you are hoping for, the workaround that @Craig Mackie is a great option here as well.

I’m having exactly this same issue.
I create a wiring diagram and chart within a shape and it only copies and pastes the background shape.
I’ve been using it this way for a couple years now and all of a sudden the function is not available?

@Craig Mackie your solution only works if there is a single shape per page (unless i’m doing something wrong).
I have multiple shapes per chart that are grouped for similar documents. Previously I could copy ONLY the shape I needed and all the layers within were copied also.

I agree with Kurt.

I also checked Amanda’s solution by enabling integrations. it allows me to move the whole content in a single document and not the selected diagrams (as mentioned by Kurt).

Surprisingly my students who are using a free version of lucidchart are able to copy paste.

Hi @Ambar D
Just tested this again on both Powerpoint and Word.
It looks as though something has been changed with the premium version.

Premium version.
Base layer shape can be copied and pasted but WILL NOT include any images or shapes that are layered within the main shape.

Free version.
Base layer shape can be copied and pasted and WILL include any images that are held within that shape.

So in summary…
I can’t use the premium version as required because I cannot copy and past shapes with included layers. Exporting as PNG does not work where multiple shapes are included in a single chart.
I can’t use the free version because I have far exceeded the image limit of 1gb.

Looking forward to an update with a timeframe for correction.
If unable to rectify, please advise so my team can begin sourcing an alternate program.

Hi @Kurt Hollis, thank you for adding this detailed information so we can pass it along to the proper team. I can certainly understand how this would impact your work and I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. Unfortunately, copy/pasting into Microsoft Word is not formally supported by Lucid and therefore not guaranteed to function properly in every scenario.

I noticed your upvote for the idea below, which is the best method for showing your desire for this feature to be formally implemented. If you would like to leave additional feedback for our development team, please feel free to leave a comment on the post below.
