Is it possible to enter a comment on a table or field? I would like to provide description for every field and table - such description should be part of documentation export.

You can definitely comment on objects tables and the general document. However not all exports will carry comments to the exported format. For instance PDFs and PNG exports will not keep comments made in the document. To make comments that are visible after export you might consider inserting a shape that carries a note/comment inside of it. See an example here:
