If I start a project with a free edu account but others who do not have EDU accounts (or any other accounts) want to collaborate on it (edit/ contribute) will they be able to?

Thanks for your post! On the free EDU upgrade you have access to unlimited sharing. This means you can share your document and collaborate with anyone who has a Lucidchart account. The thing to keep in mind is anyone you share the document with will be able to collaborate to the extent their account level/subscription allows.
