Hey Lucid users -- if you are running into difficulty with our Canvas Integration there are a couple of things to look at:
Teachers can create an assignment using Lucidchart by navigating to the assignment section of a course creating a new assignment and in the content section selecting the Lucidchart icon. This will bring up your Lucidchart documents list for you to select a diagram. Please see the above article for more details on this.
Students can submit a Lucidchart diagram as an assignment by navigating to the assignment selecting submit assignment and navigating to the Lucidchart tab. This will bring up your Lucidchart documents list for you to select a diagram to submit.
If none of those tips help drop a comment below and include the following information:
A screenshot of the issue
A screenshot of any error messages or pop ups that appear
A screenshot of the associated Javascript Console output after reproducing the issue? You can open your Javascript Console by pressing Ctrl + Shift + J (if your computer is a Windows / Linux) OR Cmd + Opt + J (if your computer is a Mac).

Hi @Phillip W,
I was having an issue with the Canvas assignment setup with Lucid and failed to use the External tool which kept saying “Sorry! Our servers experienced an error. We apologize for the inconvenience. (Error Code: CE014)”. Then I found this troubleshooting, but I’m a little confused about the assignment settings in Canvas like the submission type should be selected. Wondering if you could help or where I could find more instructions on this. Thanks.

Hey @MayTse.
Thank you for your post! It looks like you are being helped on your post here!
I’m having trouble embedding a Lucid Document into a Canvas page. I keep getting this error:
Hi @allisonhughes,
Thank you for your reply! This is currently a bug in our system. For updates on this issue please follow along on this thread!
We are loving the options for Lucid Assignments and for Collaborative Lucid Activities. However, when we copy a Canvas course, none of the Lucid content, whether it is an external tool-based assignment or a simple embed on a Page, comes across.
For external tool-based assignments, we get error code CE017. For Page embeds, we get error code CE009. Both come with the text, “This resource can't be accessed from within this context.” Screenshots are below.
Also, I am working in Google Chrome, Version 132.0.6834.84 (Official Build) (64-bit), and have changed my Third-Party Cookies settings back and forth from allowing all third-party cookies to blocking them in incognito mode (which I was NOT using). It makes no difference. And again, these errors happen after you use Canvas’s “Import Existing Content” course import tool and when you use the Copy To menu option on each item individually. We would love a resolution to copying Lucid content since the only option we have found is to delete the content and recreate it, re-tying to the Lucid content in the process.
Also, if one teacher copies a course to another teacher, what is the suggested workflow so that the receiving teacher also has access to the Lucid content that the original person created? And without having to delete everything Lucid and recreate it. ;)

Hi @Sean Cummings ,
Thanks for responding to this post and for sending over those screenshots. The errors you are seeing are populating due to the course being copied. Canvas assignments utilizing the Lucid integration cannot be duplicated but they can be "Copied" to a new course or module. However, as they cannot be duplicated when they are copied it results in this error.
If you are using Lucid as the "Submission Type", you will need to create a new assignment each time. I apologize for the trouble and have relayed this issue to our development team.
Please let me know if the error persists when creating new assignments or outside of a copied assignment/module.
Michelle S,
Thanks for the quick answer. I’m still a little muddy on what you meant by
“Canvas assignments utilizing the Lucid integration cannot be duplicated but they can be "Copied" to a new course or module.”
No type of Canvas process to copy to a new course works for us. And within a course, the Canvas menu option to duplicate an assignment does not exist for assignments based on external tools.
Can you clarify what process you are referring to with the statement I quoted above?
Thank you!
Hi @Sean Cummings ,
Thanks for your response! I apologize for the confusion. You will need to create a new assignment each time. I apologize for the trouble and have relayed this issue to our development team.
Please let me know if the error persists when creating new assignments or outside of a copied assignment/module.
Hello,
I am running into an error as a Student. Any insight would be appreciated.
Hi @andjamlong,
This error is likely being caused by a duplicate course or assignment. Please reach out to your administrator to let them know you are unable to access the resource.
