Hello I need to change the color of the shape below (looks like a sheriff's badge). No matter what I try I'm unable to change the color. What am I doing wrong? Whenever I click the bucket icon to try and change the color I select the new color but nothing happens. Can anyone help?

Thanks for your response. Many custom imported shapes do allow the color to be changed. However depending on the specifics of the shape file that may not always be the case.
