Hi everyone,

I'm creating a flowchart for account creation, and I have a few questions about structuring it since this is my very FIRST chart.

My Situation:

  1. There is one main path for the account creation but with multiple variables for example the SMS provider, the proxy provider and so on and I want to see what these changes do to each account create process.
  2. I want to create a decision point for choosing the SMS provider for example
  3. Each main step in the process might have variables in addition to the SMS provider.
  4. After these variables are processed, they will lead back to the main flow, where the steps continue, leading to another variables maybe.

My Question:

  • How can I identify which variable leads to which outcome at the end without having to copy and paste the entire main process under each variable? Is that the only option, or is there a more efficient way to organize this? If I change the color of each path, this would be hard to identify no?

Thank you for your help!

Hi @Markus, thanks for posting in the Lucid Community and welcome to Lucid! As you begin working in Lucid, I would recommend reviewing our Lucid Basics articles from the Lucid Help Center to help you get familiar with our products. Additionally, you can review our Lucidchart Template Library to see if we have template that can help you jumpstart your work!

For this flowchart specifically, if I’m understanding correctly, I would recommend putting your variables close together, so then they can all connect back to the main process beneath. Utilizing Swimlanes may also be helpful for you to keep your process organized while showing multiple variables like you’ve described. Please let me know if I’m misunderstanding or if you have any further questions!
