If another user has shared a document with you, you will first need to accept their invitations to collaborate. You can do this by following the steps below:

Accept through your email:

  1. Go to your email account and find an email from Lucidchart or Lucidspark. It should say something like:

Subject: Lucidchart

Context: You’re invited to the document “Document Name”...

  1. Once you find the email, open it and select the “Accept Invitation” button in the email.
  2. A new window will open containing the shared document to be viewed or edited.

Accept through your Lucid Account:

If a user has invited you to collaborate on a document via the email linked to your Lucid account you will receive a notification in your Lucid account.

  1. You can accept the invitation by navigating to the notification bell in the top-right corner of your main account page
  2. Click on the notification bell to open your notification drop down list
  3. Select the notification with the corresponding user name and document name.

For example: if Mr. Krabs shared a document called “Secret Recipe” with you then you would receive a notification called “Mr Krabs shared Secret Recipe”.

  1. A tab will open up on your browser that takes you to the shared document.

Accept through a shareable link:

In order to access a document that was shared with you via a shareable link then you will simply need to click on the link. When you click on the link, a window will open containing the shared document.

Please note: Once you have accepted the invitation to collaborate on the document, the document or folder will appear in the collaborators’ “Shared with Me” folders. If you are sharing a team space with another user, it will appear on their Team Spaces page.

Can’t Access the Document:

Even if you still have the collaboration invite from your email or the share link, if the user who owns the document has disabled collaboration on the document you will not be able to gain access to the document. If you need access to the document you will need to request access from the owner of the document.

If someone you are sharing the document with does not have Lucidchart, and you would like them to only view one tab of the document, you can also share → publish → single page. But will this be a live version of the Lucidchart like the URL publish or is it just a PDF, JPG, PNG, etc. of the single page of the document in a static format?

Hi there,

Thanks for posting in the Lucid Community!

If you choose the single-page publish option, you will only be able to publish it as a PDF, JPG, or PNG. When you select this option, you can choose the document's image type for publication. Another great thing about this feature is that the published links will automatically update with any changes you make to the document. Therefore, the link to the published page will always direct to the latest version.

I hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to comment any further questions or concerns below.

Oh this is great to know! So I can publish the single-page (PDF, JPG, or PNG) and it will still refresh automatically as changes are made to the document in Lucid. Wonderful! I suppose it was only perceived to be the case for full documents that are published as URL. This is somehow even more dynamic than originally understood. Thank you!!
