How can I move the dependency lines to the background or make the board more readable? “arrange to back” option is grayed out

Hi VJ,

Thank you for reaching out about this issue with dependency mapping. Currently we don’t support “send to back” for Dependency Lines but you can turn off dependency lines for an individual card or for the full board. Here’s how:

Turn off dependency lines for the full board:

1. Click on the Jira icon in the left toolbar and click on “Visualize linked issues”

  1. In the side panel, click “Hide all links”

You can also use the “Filter by type” to turn off lines of a specific type if you’d like to focus on a specific issue link type.

Turn on / off lines for a specific card:

  1. Click on the “# Linked issues” badge on the card
  1. Toggle the “Keep lines visible” toggle off”
  2. If lines continue to show, go to the related cards and toggle off the “Keep lines visible” toggle. Both cards need to have lines toggled off.

Thank you for sharing your experience with this feature with us! I’m the Product Manager over the dependency mapping and Jira integration features and would love any additional feedback you have to share with us. Feel free to respond in this thread or to private message me.

Thanks,

Spencer Cowley

Hi @VJ S

To effectively manage dependency lines, employ the following visualization techniques. First, organize your lines by creating a dedicated layer.

Select the lines, right-click, and choose "Move to Layer" to separate them. This enables independent z-order control, ensuring your lines don't overlap with other elements. Additionally, adjust the opacity of the lines to minimize visual clutter. Select the lines, access formatting options, and adjust the opacity slider to achieve the desired prominence.

Finally, consider altering the line style to a dashed or dotted format, making the dependency lines less obtrusive and enhancing overall diagram clarity.

We also look forward to hearing from other community members and associates, who may have alternative suggestions that could better address your requirements.

Hope this helps - Happy to help further!!
Thank you very much and have a great one!
Warm regards
