We sat down with Nathan Rawlins, Lucid’s chief marketing officer, to discuss the evolution of workplace collaboration and how important it is for businesses to adapt to their current conditions.Â
“Companies and teams won’t succeed unless they are deliberate about changing and improving their practices. There is so much unrealized potential that will only be realized when leaders become deliberate about change.” - Nathan Rawlins, chief marketing officer at Lucid
Digital collaboration timeline
1980s: The 80s marks the introduction of workplace PCs, PowerPoint, and digitization. True collaboration was missing.
1990s: The launch of the World Wide Web and email started becoming more integral in the workplace. Interactions in the office were purely transactional.
2000s: Mobile phones, the app economy, and social media took over how we interact with each other. The focus still remains on communication rather than collaboration.
2010s: Google Docs, Zoom, and Lucidchart hit the market, showing us that real time collaboration is possible.
The present: We’re starting to understand how hybrid work, effective collaboration tools, and asynchronous work help to boost alignment and drive efficiency.Â
