Using GenAI to help write long descriptions for complex diagrams

I was asked to make a complex systems architecture diagram (that was built in LucidChart) accessible.  I had hoped there would be a magic button inside LucidChart where I could download a text representation of the all the symantic relationships in that diagram...but alas I couldn't find that magic button.

Then I had a wild idea...I wandered over to ChatGPT4 threw in a screenshot of my complex diagram and asked ChatGPT4 to help me write a long description.  It took a couple of iterations to get what I needed (and I think I melted ChatGPT4's brain a few times)...but I ended up getting what I needed way faster than if I had tried to write it from scratch.

When I shared the text description with my co-workers...at least one person said "Wow it is so much easier for me to understand the text description.  Complex system diagrams are so hard to read."

Anyway...I wanted to mention this idea...hoping it inspires some future magical accessibility options :)

Hi Glenda thanks for this post - what an interesting use case! I'm so glad that was helpful to your co-workers. Thanks for taking the time to share that here!

I also wanted to let you know that we've recently launched a feature (still in beta) called Collaborative AI which is designed to help you do this exact thing! You can learn a bit more about this in this community post. We would love if you give it a try - please let us know if you have feedback on it or would like something in particular in your experience using it!

I'll also let our product manager over accessibility @amelia s know about this from the accessibility perspective.
