We have instances where we would like to share our diagrams internally (within our organisation) but colleagues do not have Lucid licences. We do not expect them to use the link and have the privileges of editing the diagram. i.e. the access to view the diagram would be Read-only.

Could this feature of sharing a link to a diagram with read-only permissions and without the need of signing up to Lucid or having a Lucid licence be added to the development backlog please?  We currently have a manual workaround using LucidSpark, however we would like something included within the LucidChart application that doesn't require extra manual steps.

Hi @Steve.Honeywell, thank you for your post! Your feedback is incredibly important to us and I can understand how this would be helpful to your work!

You are correct in that it is necessary for someone to have a Lucid account before you can add them as a collaborator on a document.

The best alternative method would be to publish the document instead. This allows anyone to view and interact with your document even if they don't have a Lucid account (although they would only need an account to edit or comment on the document). Unlike static exported versions of documents, published documents stay up to date with the latest changes.

To publish a Lucid document, you can follow these steps:

  1. Locate the Publish menu.
    • In Lucidchart, select the File menu.
    • In Lucidspark, selectmore_menu_icon_in_lucidspark.pngthe More menu.
    • In Lucidscale, selectmodel_options_menu_icon_in_lucidscale.pngModel Options.
  2. From the dropdown, click Publish.
  3. Select a publishing type from the dropdown (URL, PDF, or image).
  4. If you have selected to publish your document as an image file, choose your desired format and content quality.
  5. Click Generate Link, Publish Page, or Publish Selection to generate a URL or image file of the published document.
  6. Click the paperclip to copy the link.

For more information I recommend reading through the Publish or embed a Lucid document article from the Lucid Help Center. There you can find more information on how to password protect the publish link to to enhance security.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if this is not the experience you are hoping to have, and feel free to leave additional feedback below.

Additionally, although this may not be exactly what you are looking for, I did want to share the following in case it is useful to your team.

Lucidspark’s Guest Collaborators feature allows users without any Lucid account to join collaboration sessions. This feature is available to users on Team and Enterprise Lucidspark accounts.

A logged in user on a Lucidspark account can generate a shareable link with Guest Collaborator editing permissions by following the steps outlined in the Guest Collaborators in Lucid article.

Please let me know if you have further questions about this feature.

Thanks Ambar - That does satisfy our needs. This has led to an additional enhancement request which I will raise separately.
