I know this issue has been brought up before, at least as far back as 2022, but you have yet to fulfill the need. So I have some suggestion on how it might be done.
First my situation: I have multiple processes that I want to show on one chart using a layer for each. These processes tie into others at various shapes and it is a huge time consumer attempting to keep duplicate shapes stacked on top of each other when attempting to organize the chart.
My ideal feature would allow the user to select multiple layers where a shape could coexist and when the shape is moved on one layer, it is moved on all - while keeping all lines attached moving with it.
Possible methods for making this happen:
- Applies to all shapes - when a user wants to move or copy a shape to a layer, allow them to select multiple layers. Easier said than done, I know.
- Create a “Phantom” layer where these shapes can exist and allow it to be seen when other layers are selected and lines on those layers connect to the shape on the “Phantom” layer.
- Create a special “Anchor” shape that has the additional properties needed to allow it to coexist on multiple layers.
- Maybe it’s something you can develop using AI to manage multiple shapes as if they were one?
- Use a combination of these ideas to make it work.
