Hi there, Lucid Community!

We're exploring a new feature idea to help you better manage your Lucid documents: automatic detection of duplicate and very similar files. Imagine easily identifying redundant diagrams, outdated versions, or highly similar brainstorming boards in your account and shared folders. We believe this could significantly improve organization and reduce clutter, helping you find what you need faster.

We'd love to hear your thoughts on whether this capability would be helpful for your workflow and what kind of features you'd expect to see as part of this experience.

Please feel free to share your feedback directly in this thread. Or, if you'd prefer a more in-depth conversation, you can sign up for time with me here. Your input is crucial as we develop new ways to make Lucid even better for you.

Hi @bsmith

As the process mapping lead at my company, I can say that automatic detection of duplicate or near-duplicate Lucid documents would be a quite valuable feature for us.

In our environment, we manage a large volume of diagrams—ranging from process maps and risk assessments to audit trails and training workflows. Over time, it's easy for slightly modified versions of the same document to accumulate, especially when collaborating across departments or archiving previous versions. The result is version confusion, unnecessary duplication, and challenges with document control—all of which can impact compliance and efficiency.

Here are some ideas based on our usage:

  • Similarity detection based on structure or content, and not only on the file name

  • A side-by-side comparison view for flagged documents

  • Custom tagging or prompts to merge, archive, or delete older versions

  • Filters that allow sorting by last modified date, owner, or workspace

  • The ability to exclude protected or approved documents from flagging (for audit traceability)

This feature would support better governance of visual documentation and enhance our ability to keep process maps accurate, current, and aligned to ISO standards - particularly in regulated businesses.

Thanks for continuing to evolve this platform in such practical ways, and for always keeping the user experience in mind.
