I propose the development of a native LucidChart component that renders a Power BI report as an interactive object on the canvas. This component will function similarly to embedded YouTube videos, allowing users to interact within the embedded frame as if it were a standard Power BI report.

Value prop:

  • Seamless & Secure Integration with Organizational Data: Users can enhance conceptual diagrams, team workshops, retrospectives, process flows, proposals, and more by integrating them with live organizational data. This eliminates the need for multiple browser tabs or follow-ups, enabling on-the-spot decision-making because teams can quickly reference live data to validate ideas, track progress, and make informed decisions without leaving the LucidChart environment.
  • Dashboard of Dashboards: Users can create a cohesive mindmap of complex organizational reports. By integrating multiple Power BI reports into a single LucidChart canvas, users can visualize and navigate through their data landscape more effectively. This transforms LucidChart into a central hub for operational reporting and strategic planning.

Regarding authentication, I would expect LC to pass organizational credentials automatically via SSO on canvas load or component click events. Alternatively, initiate an OAuth flow.

Microsoft provides an embedding framework for ISVs to implement solutions like this. I work for Microsoft on the Power BI team and I am willing to broker an introduction to the appropriate product group to help you architect this request.

Hi Simon,

I’m on the Lucid team and I’d love to discuss this further. I’m reaching out to via email to learn more about your work and find some time to chat!

I would love to see this capability as well.

Count.co does something similar as sort of a BI first tool that allows you to visualize workflows.

My use case for this integration would be when documenting a flow (ie: lead enrichment) to have live data pull into to different nodes to help my audience understand the impact of what I am proposing.
