Jira Dependency and Parent Linking

We are hoping to utilize the Lucid x Jira integration as a replacement tool for a Jira add-on called Easy Agile that a lot of Application Development Organizations within our community use for their PI planning. One feature of Easy Agile that doesn’t seem to be replicable in the current Lucid x Jira integration is parent-child linking and dependency linking.

Although you can draw dependency lines in Easy Agile, they do not update Jira dependency links. This requires scrum masters and teams to go into Jira to update the dependency links that they have mapped as part of their PI planning.

Secondly, Easy Agile allows you to display the hierarchy of parent and child Jira issues. You can filter down to show only the child issues of the feature or epic you have selected. Lucid does not have this ability to differentiate between parent and child issues within a Lucid board.

One of the great aspects of the Lucid Jira integration is that it allows Scrum Masters to use one tool for PI planning and have the stories automatically update on the Jira side, rather than manually updating Jira stories. It would be a great organizational benefit and time-saver to have this ability for Jira issue links and Parent/Epic Links as well.

Hi eplace! Thanks for the feedback. We are looking to add parent support. I’m the product manager over the Jira integration and am also looking into dependency mapping. If you’re open to chatting more about dependency mapping and what you’d like to see implemented I’d love to set up a call and hear your thoughts.

Hi @Preston H wondering if anything came of this thread? I can make myself available for a call as been searching for a way to render jira issue links inside a diagramming tool for years!

@Alexander Preston thanks for the response! Are you on an enterprise license? You can definitely render jira issue links inside Lucid and we have some exciting things coming soon!

We now support parent link too.

Here is a help center article

If you have an enterprise license and would still like to chat @Alexander Preston let me know!

Hi @Preston H thanks for responding. The article doesn’t speak about actually rendering links between Jira issues?

Yes please to having a chat though. We still have an enterprise license for the time being but without this feature it will be difficult to justify keeping it if another tool has what we need first.

whiteboards.io more or less has what we need in this regard but is closing down!

Confluence Whiteboards show potential but aren’t quite there yet.

Parent linking to enable items to be displayed along with their Jira heirarchy would be a mch welcomed improvement, Linking Initiatives  → Epics → Issues → SubIssues would tidy up the thins like Gantt Charts considerably when synced to Jira filters and JQL
