Can someone tell me how to remove a shape from my saved shapes? Once it's in there I can't find a menu option to edit the shapes only keep adding new ones.

Hey Chris

Thanks for reaching out! You can delete a shape from a custom shape library in the shape manager which you can access by clicking on "Shapes" above your shape libraries or by pressing "M" on your keyboard. In the manager navigate to the library containing the shape you would like to delete right-click on the shape and select "Delete." See screenshot for a display of this action. Please check out our Custom Shapes help center article for more information. Please let me know if you have any further questions!

Hi Annika

how about editing shapes? I have some shapes that contain text and I am reusing them in various diagrams because those are same real world things in different contexts. Now I want to edit the description without having to go and edit it in all diagrams manually. Is that possible?

Another power feature would be to discover where I used that shared shape. But that is another story.

Thanks!

Hi Boško

There is currently not a way to edit one shape and apply that edit to multiple documents.  However, we are always looking for ways to improve and that sounds like an excellent idea. I’ve gone ahead and converted this post to an idea in our Product Feedback space - please upvote this request and comment with any additional details about what you’d like to see in this experience.

A way that you can accomplish a similar task would be to create a new custom shape and simply drag and drop that new shape from your custom shape library where it is needed.

Cheers!

There is an issue with the Shape Manager. When you bring the mouse over the shape it doesn't display its name so If i had played with 9 variations of a text box to finally nail it when the time comes to delete all the others I just can't see the name of the shape to delete unless i get into "rename". When i bring the mouse over the shape in the browser (Saved shape at left) the shape name appears. Why it doesn't do the same in the Shape manager?

Hi Marco,

Thanks for posting in the community. I am sorry for the trouble with your shape library. Please add the idea that the name should appear when a shape is hovered over in the shape manager to our product feedback area of the community and we will pass it on to the development team. Thank you for your request!

Hi Karen

Thanks for your post! To delete a shape from your 'My Saved Shapes' you'll need to open the 'Shape Manager.' To do this click on "Shapes" above your Shape Libraries or by pressing "M" on your keyboard.

Here a menu will appear showing all shape libraries currently offered in Lucidchart. Near the bottom of this menu you should see a section titled 'My Libraries'. Click this section.

Once opened you should see all the shapes saved to your 'My Saved Shapes' library. Once you're able to see those shapes simply move your pointer over the shape you'd like to delete right click and select 'Delete.' This will delete the shape from your 'My Saved Shapes' library!

Let me know if you experience any trouble during this process!

I notice there is no longer a "gear" icon for accessing Shape Manager. Clicking "Shapes" worked for me.

Hi Ray thanks for continuing this thread! You're correct - we've updated the Shape Manager UI since this post was created and there is no longer a gear icon. Instead the Shapes Manager can be accessed by clicking on "Shapes" as you mentioned or by pressing "M" on your keyboard.

I've also updated Annika's and Chase's original responses to clarify this!
