I am trying to add dimension lines to a drawing. Since I am unable to draw lines to a specific length I need to fudge the numbers and using it for these areas as call out. But when I try to add extension lines to a distance I can not get the lines to match up and it is upsetting my customer.

I am trying to upload an image showing what I am talking about but I am getting uploads are limited to 2MB with jpeg gif or png. I have tried each but smallest size I cam get is 82kb which should have uploaded. Below is a link and under Extension Line: is what I am trying to accomplish.

Is there a dimensions option that I am not finding that can make this much easier?

Hey there

Thank you for posting in the Lucid Community! Something you could try is utilizing our Ruler feature. This can be found by clicking File > Page Settings.

This will allow you to know the length of your lines and then you can insert those exact lengths. Hope this helps -- please let me know if you have any other questions!

The ruler setting doesn't really help with get exact lines with angles.

The main problem I am having is the Extension Line at the end of the of the dimension. Customer expects 5/16 from object and 3/16 passed the dimension line. I have cheated a bit by placing a bigger line over dimension line but when I move the item around I am spending a lot of time re-adjusting or just re doing the work all together.

Just off the phone with the team the thicker line is not acceptable. How can I also match the lines ups extending the extension lines and how can I add spacing between text and dimension lines so that its 7/16 gap?

Hey there

Okay I see! Unfortunately this is not a feature we have at this time -- however we area always looking for ways to improve. Would you mind adding your idea to our feature request form? Ideas submitted to this form are passed on to the product development team for their consideration.

Thanks for this great idea -- cheers! 🍻
