I’m not seeing any formatting options for numbers in a data table, am I overlooking it?  Was hoping to apply a custom format “_(* #,##0_);_(* (#,##0);_(* "-"_);_(@_)”, possible?

Hi @jakittrell, would you mind providing more detail about what you are hoping to achieve? This will help me to determine if what you are hoping to achieve is possible.

As a starting point, the Use formulas in Lucidchart article from the Lucid Help Center may be helpful here to get an understanding of what is available.

Thank you also @Humas1985

sure, thanks.  The core issue is this; when I import an excel data sheet which has been formatted in excel (e.g. accounting format applied), the data is not coming into lucidchart retaining that format.  In fact, it carries additional character strings associated with format syntax, like a parentheses.  So, I have to format the data in basic number format in excel then link it to a smart table.  I was looking for a way then to apply various numeric format from within Lucidchart, in my case I was trying to apply accounting format.  It would seem helpful across the product to be able to format numbers (with or without comma for thousands, decimal precision, with/without characters like dollar sign, etc).

Hi @jakittrell, thank you for that additional information and I sincerely apologize for the very late reply here. Are you still having issues with this?

Can you please send a temporary Support PIN for this document? This will allow me to take a closer look at the issue you’re experiencing. For more information on generating a Support PIN, check out this Help Center article. This PIN is only accessible by members of the Lucid support staff, so you can share that PIN directly in this thread.

Thank you for getting back.  Yes, this is still an issue.  I’ve created a Support PIN: dunP0gocZazCrN154046873

See column in linked table “A200.2”, and row “mass fraction cesium (ion)” which is a data table linked dynamically with an excel file.  YOu’ll see this cell is returning a number upwards of 15 signficiant figures, which is accurate, however onerous for presentations.  I don’t see a way to format this within the Lucidchart environment, say to “0.000” format.  The only way i’ve found to control this formatting is to round the number within Excel, for example to 3-digits.  It’s a difficult way to control format, would be much better to control this within the Lucid environment to achieve consistent look and feel and presentation quality.  Let me know if there is a better way to achieve this.  THx

Thank you @jakittrell for sending over that additional information and your support PIN! Unfortunately, as @Humas1985 mentioned, I don’t believe this is currently supported in Lucid, but we’re very interested in your feedback.

I am checking internally to verify this and see if there’s another alternative here. I’ll let you know what I hear back ASAP!

sure, thanks.  You’ve added a powerful feature linking excel files to tables and objects within Lucidchart.  The challenge is the numbers which come over retain all the significant figures from the original source.  For example, a number in an excel spreadsheet may be 2.453678, it’s easy to format this to 2.5 within excel for better readability.  When that number gets imported into Lucidchart, say into a table, the full number is portrayed with no ability to reformat, all the significant digits are reported, really clutters up a diagram or table.

Workaround is to round the number with a function in excel before importing, but sure would be better if we could format numbers within the Lucidchart environment.  Thx.
