Hello all:

I am enjoying the functionality of using links and actions to generate interactive training aids for workflows.  However…

When I select Shift-Ctrl-Click, the action/link object automatically changes its fill colour to a transparent green.  I have looked and I cannot see a way to change that setting anywhere in the dialog boxes or settings.
Is this default/fixed platform behaviour?

Looks like this

Screen grab showing shading on Shift-Ctrl-Click

Hi @Mark Sheppard

Would you like to give a try by updating the background color and see that solves your issue.

Hope this helps - Happy to help further!!
Thank you very much and have a great one!
Warm regards

Sadly, this does not change the default behaviour of the Action once the Ctrl button is pressed.

@Mark Sheppard

Trying to get to the bottom of things.

  1. Upon manually selecting the background color to your preference.
  2. After step-1, When trying with Shift-Ctrl-Click - the background color changes to a transparent green

Can you confirm the above steps are valid?

Apologies for lack of clarity.  It is only the shape/element that turns transparent green (think: mouseover), not the entire Lucid background.

Hi @Mark Sheppard, thank you for posting in the community! The transparent green described in your post helps with indicating which objects have a link/action.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to change the colour of this, but we’re very interested in your feedback and committed to continually improving our products. If you’re willing to share, we’d love to hear more details about your use case or what you’d like to see in this experience within this thread. I’ve also converted this post to an idea so that it’s visible to others within the Product Feedback section of the community - from here, they can upvote it and add details of their own.

My Use Case:

I had the idea to leverage LucidChart’s Pages, Actions, and Layers function to build an interactive training aid for a complicated workflow for some of my users.  I wanted an alternative to a flat document like a quick reference, as well as something that could be designed and built faster than in an eLearning authoring tool.  As designed, the features in Lucid more-or-less provide what I want.

What I noticed is that when I hit Shift-CTRL, ALL the active objects have a transparent green shade.  It has been explained to me that this is default behaviour to show the viewer the active objects on the screen.  However, that shade may be problematic for those with Red-Green colourblindness, as well as potentially clashing with the existing colour palette of the diagram.

I would like Lucid to consider allowing users to change the default “active” colour to address accessibility as well as colour scheme consistency.  These changes could include something like an outer glow as an alternative to the transparent overlay. I might also suggest allowing the diagram creator to toggle whether or not they want ALL active objects to be highlighted, or just the one currently under the mouse pointer.

@Mark Sheppard  Thank you for the additional feedback!
