Bulk Operations for Data Hub

The data hub doesn’t have any bulk operations meaning it becomes difficult to manage data imports when there are many accounts.

While there is a tick box next to each account, it doesn’t appear to allow bulk operations except for sharing (thankfully it does work for this operation otherwise it would be very difficult to share data across our teams).

Other useful operations:

  • Edit scheduled updates
  • Edit resources
  • Update account from AWS (may require limits to the number of accounts that can be selected)
  • Delete account - only required because the other bulk operations aren’t available - i.e. it is easier to create new account imports with a new set of filters than it is to modify the filters for multiple accounts, but that also requires deleting the obsolete account (with the old filter)

What is the difference between Share Accounts, which does work as a bulk operation, and the ‘New’ feature of Share Account Data which doesn’t support bulk operations?

Resource types “Elastic Disaster Recovery” and “Transfer Family” appear to have been added, since these are unchecked resources in all my existing data imports. This is great news that new resource types are being supported, but it will be a laborious admin task to edit 120 separate accounts to enable it.

To answer your question, Share Accounts (account/credential-level sharing) was built on top of our data hub's multi-select framework from the start, which is why it supports bulk actions today. Share Account Data is a newer feature that lets you share an individual data source (without sharing the underlying credential) — and it was shipped as a one-at-a-time action rather than being wired into that same bulk multi-select pattern. I'll flag this to the product team as a good candidate to extend bulk support to, along with your other suggestions (edit scheduled updates, edit resources, bulk delete).
