Beyond the Flex Polygon (Circle Shape with segments)
Hello,
Long time listener, first time caller :)
I have used the Flex Polygon shape to create some specific shapes that are not in the library of things you can use, but there are always things I need to do that are not available (from my limited understanding) in the Lucid product.
I want to create some comparisons so need to be able to split a “circle” into segments and colour those segments.
How would I re-create the following:
Thanks for your help in advance.
Cheers,
Mark

Good morning @MarkTerrington,
The images you shared are not showing in this post, but based on your description I immediately thought of our dynamic shapes. If you click on “more shapes” in the left hand panel and then search for dynamic shapes, you should be able to add a dynamic shape that you can then edit in the right hand panel (percentages, and colors). Would this work for you?
Hello,
Thanks for your reply. Odd that the images are not showing as they are appearing to me when I am reviewing your reply.
I have re-inserted them here, which will hopefully display:
I did previously look at dynamic shapes, however it didn’t give the separation of segments. Unless I was using it in the incorrect manner?
Hopefully my example can be viewed this time.
Thanks again.
Mark
Good morning @MarkTerrington,
That time the images came through, and after looking at our shape options (and trying to recreate with the dynamic shapes), I wasn’t able to recreate that. Do you need the shapes to be reactive to data, or do you just need to have a shape that looks like these? One option would be to upload the shapes you want to a custom library. Another work around I found was to draw a line in the dynamic shape (but I admit that felt clunky to me). Here is the recreation of the shape you showed me. I added a dynamic shape with 33% fill, and used our color picker to select the same colors you had, and then I added a line (without end points) to separate the larger section.
Hi Shantel,
Thanks for your response. Sadly it is not a solution; you don’t get the outline of the segments and you couldn’t have more than one coloured segment.
I even tried overlaying multiple dynamic shapes with the “rest of the circle” transparent, but you can only do one as trying to have multiple segments you’re unable to align. Visio has a point on the outer circle you can move around the perimeter. This would be a suggested rework for your dynamic shape as it allows you to have a dynamic starting point without the need to spin the shape around, and helps you have the ability to overlay or have varying segment sizes.
Thanks for your help, but sadly it’s not something I can use.
Have a good weekend.
Mark
Hi @MarkTerrington ,thanks for your post and @Shantel Gillette for assisting here! Unfortunately, this isn’t currently supported in Lucid, but we’re very interested in your feedback and committed to continually improving our products. If you’re willing to share, we’d love to hear more details about your use case or what you’d like to see in this experience within this thread.
