Enhance Lucidchart with a Selection Pane to improve visibility and management of objects/shapes and groups within a layer.

Current Challenge: it's a struggle to select and manage objects, especially those behind others, and to see which objects are grouped.

Proposed Solution: Implement a Selection Pane with these features:

  1. Object List: Display all objects and groups in the current layer.
  2. Hierarchical View: Show object and group relationships.
  3. Direct Selection: Select objects from the pane, regardless of their position on the canvas.
  4. Visibility Toggle: Toggle visibility of individual objects and groups.
  5. Layer Management: Lock, hide, or arrange objects and groups easily.

Benefits:

  • Efficiency: Faster and easier selection and management.
  • Usability: More intuitive and organized interface.
  • Precision: Better control over object placement.
  • Organization: Improved diagram structure and clarity.

The limitations of being able to select nested objects in complex diagrams is only reason I still use PPT instead of Lucid for my primary work.
