Hi Everyone I am creating a Entity Relationship Diagram and have chosen a 2-column Entity shape showing key and field. I now want to include a 3rd column for type but cannot find how to add a column to an existing entity or change the entity without having to re-create it. Please help!

Hey there

Thank you for posting in the Lucid Community! Unfortunately adding a column to an ERD shape is functionality not currently support within Lucidchart. However we are always looking for ways to improve and your feedback is the best way for us to do that. I have logged your request to our developers and I will continue to update you on this as details of an update are made available to me.

Again thank you for your idea and a peak into how Lucid can best help your workflow! Firm handshakes 🤝

Thanks for your super quick response Phillip much appreciated!

Hey there

No worries at all--please keep the ideas and suggestions coming! We value your input and will always take the experiences of our users into consideration when evaluating and implementing new features.

Thanks again--Cheers 🍻

I am looking for the same feature. I intend to create more detailed ER diagrams based on ServiceNow table dictionaries. While developers could easily use internal tools to understand the table when communicating to external system owners for integration purposes often xls is used and that is very error prone. A diagram could explain much better ... in best case there would be a servicenow integration that could automate creation of diagram elements based on ServiceNow elements (data)...

Typically Label (technical) field name reference length type are a minimum of columns that you would want for such purposes... but if that would be flexible to adapt it would be a great improvement. I was surprised that it is not yet a feature as draw.io can do that for quite some time now.

Kind regards

Hi @joel l

Thank you for continuing this thread and for your enthusiasm in adding this feature! I have added your feedback to the logged feature request.

The more requests a feature has the better our Product team can prioritize based on demand!

Thank you!

Any update on whether adding extra column in ERD is available? Thanks!

Checking in on this as well. Also need the ability to represent more than 3 columns.

Hi @sharris and @suresh_dnw, thank you for your posts. Unfortunately, I do not have an update to share on this request at this time. However, I’ve centralized the conversation into a single thread to properly capture the popularity of the idea for our product development team. If you’d like to share any additional use case detail or what you’d like to see in this experience, we would love to hear more via the thread linked in my pinned response above.
