It is not currently possible to set a default spell-check language to be used used for new documents. Once a document has been created, the language can be changed within the document settings but this only affects that specific document.

Whenever I create a new document, it defaults to US English - I presume this is because our account’s data region is set to the US. (We’re a multi-national) Unfortunately this means that whenever I create my own documents, I have to manually set the spell-checker language to UK English each time. It would be nice if the default could be set within the user-settings area.

Agreed!

This is really annoying, and something that should be really simple to achieve.

It would also be nice if the list of languages in the User Settings section were the same as the Document Settings!

Just weighing in that I also find this irritating. In the grand scheme it isn’t a huge deal, but it means wasted brain power for our entire org to verify that it is triggering because I used English instead of US spelling, rather than a valid error. There is no way I will remember to set this every time I open a doc.
Seems like a pretty basic QoL feature to be absent.
