Finding that flexibility of object placement … specifically AWS artifacts like roles … appears broken in the new release. With SNAP TO GRID OFF, objects can only be moved in very large increments, approximately equal to the height or width of the object. Formerly objects of this sort could be manually placed with precision with grid off.
This is likely to render Lucid unusable for many of my use cases
Interestingly this behaviour is not present with AWS group objects (Account, etc) but is present with dense icons (Role, Bucket, etc.)

Hi Robert! Could you share some pictures to explain a little more about this issue?
I’m the PM over the Assisted Layout feature and wanted to make sure there aren’t any unexpected interactions happening that we should be aware of.

I’d expect this kind of snapping with assisted layout turned on, so I’m curious to hear more about what you’re experiencing.
Not sure how to share what you want, as it’s dynamic. I drag the shape where I want, usually just a little down. I let go. It snaps back. Grid is off.
Assisted Layout is new to me, and an anti-feature. Perhaps you can tell me how to turn it off. I searched the help database and it didn’t have a real “switch” just some vague information on closing popups.
Seriously, I’m looking for a new tool. The new “features” are of no use to a professional engineer and simply frustrate or distract from the purpose of a quality diagramming tool.
Sorry for the delay, I was OOO.
During your interactions, do you see gray boxes within the AWS containers? I wonder if this is an Assisted layout issue or perhaps some other interaction.
If it is assisted layout, you should see the ‘Assisted Layout’ section in the right-hand-side properties panel when your AWS container is selected
If you do see this, and the toggle is on, you can simply click the toggle again to turn it off.
