Hi,

I’m evaluating Lucid chart with a basic free account. I’m having difficulty figuring out how to add an image to a shape while retaining the data information. The thumbnail image with the Ranger images represents a webpage view. How do I add the thumbnail inside the blue shape centered underneath the page number data, URL and description?
I’m unable to just drag n drop it to the center of the blue shape. It either replaces the blue shape or bounces to the side of the blue shape. Once I have the final shape built it needs to replace just the thumbnail with the flow arrows.
Since this is meant to help students and teachers understand an online curriculum navigation it needs to have visible thumbnails. I did attach an image to the blue shape, but that’s difficult for beginner users.
Thank you for any assistance.

Hi again @Leianne C.,

I was able to complete the Ranger Ron navigation diagram using two layers. I turned off assisted layout for the main frame. Each process block contains page #, title, page URL and thumbnail. Each process block uses the Data panel to attach the thumbnail image.

Use the Data > Attached Images to add popup thumbnail image.

Users have the option to zoom into the digram or click the image icon to launch the thumbnail popup.

Importantly, the navigation pathways are clearly displayed in the Lucid Chart diagram.

Hi @rsimpson3, thank you for posting in the community! It sounds like you are trying to add the Ranger image on the right into the middle of the blue shape, is this correct? There shouldn’t be any issues with placing images on top of other shapes or containers.

Could you please share some more details about what container / shape you used to create the blue shape? For example, did you use our Flowchart shapes?

I’d love to take a closer look your document as well. Could you share a temporary Document Support PIN for this document? This will help me take a closer look at what’s going on. This PIN is safe to post in this thread because it is only accessible by members of the Lucid support staff. You can find steps for generating a Support PIN in this Help Center article

Thanks for your help and patience. Please let us know if you have any questions!

Thanks @Leianne C for responding. I used a process box for the blue rectangle. In the current view, I was able to layout the digram with the thumbnail centered in the blue boxes. I used the layers to create a separate thumbnail layer which allowed for positioning the thumbnails. This gets the job done but the drawback is when shifting the main layer I have to readjust the thumbnail layer.

The original diagram was generated using Lucid AI from a PDF. Could there be a global setting that I’m not understanding?

Looking forward to your response.
