I would love to integrate Lucid whiteboards into my digital learning classrooms, but there is a feature that I would need before doing so. I want to be able to embed a whiteboard into my digital learning platform (Canvas), but I am concerned that some students may abuse open access to the whiteboard to post inappropriate messages or drawings.

In order to use this tool safely and effectively I would like to see a feature added where students posts would require admin approval before they become visible to other students. I think this could be an incredible tool for asynchronous collaboration and group learning, but some features need to be added for student safety first.

Hi David! I understand your concern about student safety when using open access whiteboards in your digital learning classroom within Canvas. You're looking for a feature that allows admin/teacher approval of student posts before they become visible to others. Unfortunately, Lucid doesn't currently offer this pending comment feature. However, you can submit a formal request for this functionality through the Lucid community forum. In the meantime, there are a couple of workarounds you could consider. For asynchronous work, you might assign each student their own individual copy of the Lucid document. Then, for real-time collaborative sessions, you can use a shared collaborative board. Also, I agree with Shawn that another helpful feature is the "Show Authors" option available in both Lucidchart and Lucidspark. This displays the creator's name on each sticky note in the bottom right corner, and hovering over the name shows the last editor. This added transparency can often encourage responsible contributions from students as they know their work is attributable. While these aren't perfect solutions, they might offer a more manageable and safer way to use Lucid whiteboards in your digital learning environment.

I’m also in a virtual high school environment with a mix of synchronous and asynchronous schedules. Is the ability to make all posts show the author not enough in your mind to make this viable? I liken it to having Canvas discussions where the authorship is not anonymous.
