Learning Mind Maps: Future Me Project for Financial Literacy

This is Angie from Wenatchee Valley College.  My latest challenge was learning how to create a mind map activity for my students.  I chose to use my “Future Me” project from the financial literacy unit of my Math In Society class.  Students expand on 4 pillars of their future with this mind map:  Lifestyle, Housing, Career, and Finances.  In addition to the mind map, students are given some resources on the Lucidspark board to use as they’re mapping out their futures including space to add their own sources.  They’re also encouraged to include screenshots of their career outlook, housing, and lifestyle priorities.

Below is the template I created, along with a video tutorial stepping you through how to work with the mind map and even create your own from scratch.  The tutorial also includes instructions for assigning it to students in Canvas.

Happy mind mapping!

Angie
