Template: Calf Muscle Identification

Video: How help students practice identifying the muscles in the body

Detailed Walkthrough

Shannon used Lucidspark  to give students an interactive way to practice identifying all of the muscles in the calf.  This type of activity can be used as an in-class activity, group activity, and/or quick exit ticket.

Shannon sends the template out as an assignment through Canvas.  Each student gets their own copy, drags each of the labels onto the correct location on the diagram, and then submits for grading through speed grader.

Labeling diagrams is a crucial practice in healthcare education and helps students solidify anatomical knowledge by participating in activities that are active and immersive therefore promoting better information retention.

I love these kinds of assignments and creating them, but I worry about the accessibility part. Is there a way for a student to do this completely with their keyboard? Is there alt text for the image? In the past we only needed to create a separate assignment if there was an issue, but in April 2026 all digital content needs to be accessible.

@Mia Hoyt great questions.  You can add alt text to images within Lucid.  Right-click on the image and select Add alt text.  I hope this helps.

Yes, thanks! I still have questions about the drag and drop accessibility. That is not typically an accessible activity.

@Mia Hoyt Here is our accessibility page and there is an email listed in case you have more questions related to accessibility.  They are the experts on this and should be able to help.
