Lucid MCP server FAQs & resources for admins

This post serves as a round-up of the resources and documentation you need to get started with the Lucid MCP server and set your account up for success.

Let’s get into it! ⬇️

What is the Lucid MCP Server?

The Lucid Model Context Protocol (MCP) server is the bridge that connects Lucid to the AI tools you’re already using- like Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Glean, and more. The MCP server provides large language models (LLMs) and AI clients the information they need to understand the Lucid platform and execute tasks on behalf of the user.

Users of the MCP server can use natural, every day language to search for, edit, summarize, and create Lucid documents - all without leaving the AI tool of their choice. This means less manual work for your teams!

Users can learn more here:

What use cases does the MCP server currently support?

By prompting your AI tool of choice, you can:

  • Search for and synthesize Lucid documents using natural language.
  • Create (and edit) documents and diagrams without ever leaving your AI tool.
  • Collaborate with other users on your account.
  • Share and export documents.
  • Manage your folder organization and document locations.

For a comprehensive list of available actions along with example prompts, check out the post below:

How can I enable (or disable) the MCP server for my account?

A Lucid account owner, account admin, or Enterprise Shield admin must enable MCP access in the Lucid admin panel. For full instructions, read this article.

Where can I find information about security controls?

Learn more about available security controls - read the article below, written for account admins.

We've also introduced two new security controls to help admins manage how users access Lucid via MCP, MCP Domain Allowlist and MCP IP Allowlist. The post below provides a deep dive into these controls.

Our account has access to the MCP server. Now what? Where can we find trainings and prompts?

Ensure your team is set up for success with a training labs course! Take the course below to see real-world use cases, with 4 example workflows and ready-to-use prompts.

I need support with my connection. I’m having trouble accessing a feature. Where can I go?
