Hi everyone

I have a diagram with shapes to which I've attached Notes.

It looks something like this:

I have a lot of info sitting in those Notes; if I do a FIND using Ctrl + F I can find all occurrences of a word in those bubbles BUT the FIND does NOT seem to dive into the contents of the Notes associated with those bubbles.

Is there a way to get the find command to dig into the contents of Notes as well?

I'm not asking for the ability to search over multiple tabs or multiple charts; I'm only looking to find occurrences of a certain word(s) in the shapes on the chart as well as the Notes attached to the shapes.

Is that possible?

Thanks so much
Lawrence

Hi Lawrence

Thanks for posting in the Lucid Community! Unfortunately searching for keywords within notes is not currently supported in Lucidchart. However we're always looking for ways to improve Lucidchart and your feedback is the best way for us to do that. I would love if you would add your idea to our feature request form! Ideas submitted to this form are passed on to the product development team for their consideration.

Thanks for your request and I apologize for any inconvenience this causes you. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Cheers!

Is there a way to search (ctl Find) a keyword or number in a note?

Hi @jim f thanks for continuing this thread! While you an search keywords that are added to a sticky note shape it unfortunately is not currently possible to search for keywords within notes attached to shapes (see below screenshot for example).

If you would like to see this feature in Lucidchart I encourage you to submit a feature request via the feature request form my colleague Phillip shared in the comment above. Thank you for your request and please feel free to let us know if you have any questions!

I am sad I didn’t realize I couldn’t do this sort of search until i added a ton of notes that I now have to export in order to search through :( Bummer. I know this didn’t get a lot of votes but consider bumping this one up!

Oh wow… I can’t even get at the data when I export. Boo! Hiss! How is it helpful to anyone then? Serious question... :)

Hi @staciebacon, thank you for contributing to this thread! I can understand your frustration with this experience and apologize for any inconvenience.

Some users find the notes feature within the Lucid canvas helpful to stay organized, provide context or additional information to collaborators, or take notes during meetings. Unfortunately, you are correct that searching for keywords within notes is not currently supported in Lucid. While this may not be exactly what you are hoping for, I do want to mention that searching for keywords within sticky notes is an option.

We’re very interested in your feedback and committed to continually improving our products. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your comments.

We encourage anyone else who’s interested in this to upvote this post and share any additional details about your use case or what you’d like to see in this experience. For more information about how we manage feedback in this community, please take a look at this post:
