Greetings folks! I'm working on a map of all of our internal documentation topics and want to be able to add a link from one element to another similar to an anchor link. Is this possible? If so how would one accomplish that?

We actually do have a way to link to a specific part of the board: Click on the share button and you should see one of two options, “Link to current selection,” which links to whatever shapes you currently have selected, or “Link to current view,” which makes a link for the exact spot you are currently viewing on the board.

To get the “link to current selection” option, you need to have something selected on the board.

To get the “Link to current view” option, you need to make sure nothing is selected.

Hi there, the sharable link method shared by @Sam F has worked as a temporary solution for some of our users, however if a user doesn’t have “Edit and share” permissions for the board then they’re unable to access the sharing page and therefore unable to generate a link. General feedback has also been that this method is still less intuitive than Miro.

@b.harrington Thank you for the additional feedback!  We encourage anyone else who’s interested in this to upvote this post and share any additional details about your use case or what you’d like to see in this experience.

Alternatively, can the an object in a Lucid Chart exist in multiple sheets, so that if it is updated on one sheet it is updated in another sheet within the same file.

e.g. A telephone call flow diagram. It not practical to show all linked call flows one page (even an A3 page) so a common object is often on multiple sheets, but it seems all you can do is copy/duplicate the object but if you update the object on one sheet the copies/duplicates of the object on the other sheets is not updated, so you have to waste time doing it manually. Or is their a way to achieve this?

@SvenBell Thanks for this post and for taking time to describe what you’re hoping to do. Unfortunately, a shape that behaves dynamically in that way isn’t currently supported in Lucidchart. I wonder if you might be able to utilize a master page to help you do this. You can create any elements that you’d reuse across pages on the master, then apply that master to the pages that need that information. Then, if and when you need to make updates, you can simply do so on the master page, which will in turn push those changes onto any page to which the master is applied. Give it a try, and let me know if you have additional questions!

Hi Micah, Thanks for trying, master idea would only work in limited situations. Hopefully Lucid  can add this ability in the near future.
thank you

This functionality has been something I've been missing for a while.

I can't get the work around from above working since I've already shared a link to the board to a colleague the share button is just a link button now.

Use case:

Have a lot of items that are added divided into categories, now each of those items needs a bunch more information, if this information is added to the current items it becomes to cluttered. But it is not enough information to create a whole new board, I would also need nearly 200 of them this way.

Really hope an intuitive solution is found quickly. Although I do not have a lot of hope since this thread has been going on for 3 years.
