Hi Joseph
Thanks for reaching out on Lucidchart Community.
Unfortunately the default labels for the shapes in the server library are not adjustable the way you are describing. I’ve moved your post to our product feedback community space where Lucid developers track these requests and their volume to prioritize their work.
A work around and a way to label the entire rack would be to use a normal text box instead of the default labels and then group the text and the object you have labeled. You can turn hide the default labels in the top bar.

Hi Kent
Thanks for the response.
With respect to numbering the rack RU below is what I'm trying to accomplish. Given that I already have labels on the left side I can put numbering on the right side. However I'm just unsure how to go about doing this.

Hi Joseph
The best way I can think of to accomplish this would be to add a text box next to your rack.

Then adjust the line spacing to line them up with the different spots for your equipment. Then you could group that text box with your rack to make sure one isn't moved separate from the other.
I really hope they get this added. The numbers cannot just be added willynilly they need to line up with the shapes that are added.
Hi Robert
Thank you for keeping this thread going! Unfortunately this is not how our server rack functionality works yet and the best workaround is the one suggested above by Kent. However we're always looking for ways to improve Lucidchart and your feedback is the best way for us to do that. Would you mind upvoting the original post if you haven’t already? Upvotes help the product development team prioritize features for development.
Thanks so much for the great idea! Cheers!
Checking in on this.
It’s felt like Lucid has neglected it’s core product over the years.
“Limitations” are rife throughout the core libraries.
Tables are archaic, dare I saw useless.
Then there are these odd limitation in the Server Racks library remains (re-labeling and grouping 46U is a hell of thing. Especially when there are multiple racks!)
Heck, it would be great if “note” didn’t have to have locked proportions.
Examples abound.
Early implementations will have their quirks out of necessity, but these constant limitations in elements cause us to use other tools and drop the image in, or at times bypassing Lucid all together.
Not a good sign.
